SLOVENIAN thrillmaker Maks Gregoric has a broken leg and has been ruled out for the rest of the season.
Circumstances prevented me from getting to Workington for the Bears’ PL match so I was happily sitting at home with a can of Old Speckled Hen when Brian Havelock texted me with the bad news.
Maks, who only recently returned to action after a finger injury, crashed heavily in heat 10 and was taken to hospital.
There it was confirmed he has broken his femur three inches below the hib joint and surgeons hoped they’d be able to operate on him tonight (Saturday).
He was expected to remain in traction in hospital in Workington for a week before being allowed to go home to Slovenia.
He was, according to Brian “in a lot of agony”. He hasn’t always been on top form this season but I’m sure we all wish him well.
Brian’s No 1 priority now is to sign a replacement. I’ll bring you details when I have them.
All the best, Maks.
